Viva La Vida

Lately, I've been having the feeling that plaid will be in this fall... maybe it's because everyone has suddenly developed an urge to copy the guilty-pleasure show of Gossip Girl, or else maybe it's just the "mood" that students have been getting in for school to start. Either way, I have to say I'm a big fan. Plaid is not only classy, but it's also a great way to experience with something totally chic and sophisticated, yet natural.

The dress below by Zac Posen was on sale originally for $2600 but it's supposed to be about $900 now at Bergdorf.Which leads me to my next point. Has anybody actually been to Bergdorf Goodman, before? I've been in there a couple of times. My friend's sister, a fashion design major at Cornell, has repeatedly said "Bergdorf is overpriced. It's the only department store with its name in the United States. Of course it's going to be overpriced. But, when there's a shoe sale, there will be rooms and rooms full of shoes on sale. The shoe sales are to die for." I have bought a pair of Juicy Couture jeans from Bergdorf before, on sale from $299 for $99, but aside from that, I can't really say that I've bought anything. The store itself is gorgeous inside and out in New York, but I will have to take my friend's word on it that the shoe sales are to die for... maybe I'll have to stop by New York someday for a shoe frenzy.

I love advertising. When you think about it, advertising can basically be a form of psychology. Good designs, good catch phrases, having "the look" will always attract readers and buyers to whatever it is you're trying to sell. I think this is one of the ultimate reasons why Apple is doing such a great job.My sister is picking up her new iPhone 3G today. As much as I adore Apple products (I myself am dying for a new Macbook), I'm not really sure what I absolutely like about the iPhone. There's enough around for me to simply walk around my school, ask a friend to borrow a phone, and immediately have an iPhone to play with in my hand. Maybe it's because I know exactly how it works, but I'm not too crazy about what all the hype is about... but in all honesty, I am a big fan of Apple and will probably be converting myself to some form of Apple Communication at one point or another... Anyhoo, I love the looks and the advertisement that Apple has. Has anybody been to the apple store on fifth avenue? It's a glass wall and the store itself is DOWNSTAIRS UNDERGROUND- I immediately fell in love with the place.

I have about two more weeks until the dreaded school starts- bleh. Until then, I will be gone for a couple days on my way to Las Vegas. I will be staying at the Venetian Hotel- an attempt at replicating Venice.

Have I been to Las Vegas, you may ask? Yes. Very, very many times. Many times to the point where I will sometimes just sit there in my suite and idle on the computer or watch television while my parents are downstairs in the casino having fun. But, at the same time, there's always something new in Las Vegas. Whether it's the Fashion Show Mall across the street from the hotel, or just walking up and down the Strip, there's always something that will make you go out at least twice a day and look at something. Not to mention the dozens of outlets and shopping centers available to you.

As for me, I plan on thoroughly enjoying myself at one of the five pools at the Venetian in the late afternoon sun at around the evening while hanging out and shopping in the daytime... all between that and SAT studying...

Okay, I must admit it. I am one of the zillions of fangirls that obsess over the Twilight series. But, unlike many, MANY of the fans- I consider myself an original. How, you may ask? I started reading the book WAY before any of the others came out. It was suggested from a woman working the cashier at the Borders by my house while I was buying the latest installment of the A-List Series. "Have you read Twilight?" she asked me. "No," I politely answered back. Her eyes instantly went wide. "Oh, you have to! Do you like vampire books?" I was thinking in my head "no, absolutely not" but I didn't want to be rude so I just said "Yes." She pulled off half of my receipt (I guessed right then and there that there was no way I could return the book even if I wanted to later) and wrote down the name of the book and the author. I later went to Barnes and Noble a few weeks after and bought the book and instantly became hooked with it.

I would definitely suggest it to everybody- it is ultimately a romance novel but the action and the mystery contained within itself is absolutely amazing. If you haven't yet read it, I would definitely suggest it- it changed my life.

And yes... I do love Edward Cullen.

Those plaid dresses (especially the Posen) are awesome. I think I need some plaid in my life!

I've always been interested in advertising too and I think marketing department at apple have done a stellar job. I'm reluctant to get the iPhone too on account of the hype (and also the fact that touch screens are my mortal enemy)

I love plaid too! <3

Thanks for your comment, I remember when I bought my very first pair of those boots I was shy to wear them out not sure of "how to" but through the years, they have grown on me and I own more than any girl should. :/ But they are comfortable, so I feel they were worth it.

Thanks for commenting my blog. xx

Plaid rocks!

And Bergdorf Goodman is expensive. One reason for this is that the company does not believe in using anti-theft devices, which means there is a lot of "loss"; the profit margin at BG when I worked there was only 9%, which is not great for a retail giant.

But the sales are to DIE for!! I always wait until the end of the January and July sales . . . be patient, because eventually they mark everything down to 60% off the SALE price; I have gotten Manolos for less than a hundred dollars a pair this way!

I really love Apple and all their advertisements. Although I'm a big fan, I find the iPod Touch a mistake to buy, but I really want to get a MacBook like you! lol

Love your blog, and I was wondering, would you like to link up with my blog?

i like your blog.

no ive never been to bergdorfs.
i wouldnt be surprised if the stock is not all that good but the shop has a reputation people want to be part of.

advertising is so powerful
is is propaganda in a way
i really respect how intelligent and intuitive the people are who work in that industry.
ads can make or break brands.

ps:
viva la vida is such a good song : )

Oh my, those plaid dresses are gorgeous! I love the Zac Posen one! The colour is beautiful... it makes so pretty and happy. I guess many department stores have increased their prices dramatically. Bergdorf Goodman goes with the situation as well, but actually it is not that bad if you compared to many departments here in London get even worse! However sometimes they do great sales xxxxxxxxxx
